Frequently Asked Questions (Click on Questions for answers)

+ CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN WITH ME TO CHURCH?

Yes very definitely! At our Sunday morning worship gatherings we regularly get many children and young people with ages ranging from a few weeks upwards. We have an area at the back of church where children and parents can be together. Or for some there is a crèche manned by volunteers. We hope that you and your children will be comfortable with us.

+ I'M NOT SURE I BELIEVE IN JESUS BUT I WANT TO FIND OUT MORE. CAN YOU HELP ME?

We have found that many people with questions like yours have found an Alpha course helpful. This encourages asking the sort of questions you may have in a relaxed atmosphere, usually with a meal. If you want to know more about this please contact Annie di Casteglione on 01782 658194. For more information on Alpha www.alpha.org. You may also find www.rejesus.co.uk helpful.

+ I READ THAT THE VICAR HAD BEEN TAKEN TO COURT - WHAT HAPPENED?

By mid 2003 our weekly Tiny Tots meetings had become so popular that we had difficulty in the available space. The font was moved to a new location within the church. It was done without a faculty (ecclesiastical planning permission) and complaints were received. In the ensuing discussions there was misunderstanding and confusion and the Chancellor took the Vicar and Churchwardens to a church court (Consistory Court). In summary the Chancellor has allowed the font to remain in its new position conditional on the area being enhanced. A proposition will be made by the PCC to incorporate this move within a more general reordering, which will include replacing the pews with chairs. http://www.ecclawsoc.org.uk/documents/recent_judgments_2004.pdf top of page 7 gives a summary of the case.

+ CAN I JUST COME ALONG AND SEE IF I LIKE THE STYLE OF WORKSHIP?

Yes with pleasure. If you come to our 10.30 gathering and have time we suggest you stay afterwards for tea or coffee. Please introduce yourself and tell us your impressions.
